EXPERIMENTAL
I pride myself on being experimental and pushing the foundations of what I have learned, so I decided to create a dedicated page.
My little pressure-free corner where I can show the good and the bad, and talk a bit about my process and inspirations. A digital sketchbook of recent personal and unfinished artwork that never quite made my portfolio.
I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this outcome. It began as the world's messiest warm-up, but by gradually building on top of the layers of scribble I started to uncover the figure and define it. I always find that my favourite designs come from a place of imperfection and lack of care for the outcome, art autopilot.
The other day I was re-dying my hair and I was hit with one of those random bursts of inspiration, the kind that never quite happens when you need it to but almost definitely when you're trying to fall asleep.
I really wanted to create an animation of someone pushing their hair back and painting it bright yellow. Originally I was going to create a full-blown After Effects masterpiece but I was in more of a messy mood and just needed to put the movement down somewhere, so I ended up using Procreate. I'm still tempted to take it down a more polished route but for now, I'm happy with it being an energetic scribble.
